I know folks who suffer with fears and anxiety. I find myself reading and searching for memes, scripture verses, devotionals and such to forward to them. I’m hoping something will “stick” in their minds and jar the anxiety and fear enough to vacate their minds.
One inspiring story I read the other day, offered the suggestion to write your fear or what you are feeling anxious about and then come back to write down the outcome. What the writer realized as they read back through their volume of writing, was that the fear rarely manifested itself or if it did, it was minor compared to the anxiety they were initially feeling.
Perhaps the season of Lent would be a time to give thought to letting go of your fears and worries. God loves us unconditionally and never leaves or forsakes us, but sometimes we block His goodness by allowing fear to build a nest in our minds. During this season of Lent, if you have fears and worries or experience anxiety, give yourself permission to “let it go” and “give it to God.” He is stronger than any problem you have or any problem/worry/fear that causes you anxiety.
The forty days of the Lenten Season will give you a perfect timeline for practicing RELEASE. Indulge yourself in the “burden-lifting” sensation you will experience when you drop fear and anxiety from your routine of worry. Perhaps start a Fear/Worry Journal as I mentioned. What might the culmination be at the end of 40 days? You might find yourself more than ready for the ALLELUIA of Jesus’ s resurrection. The Son of God died for your sins and is more than willing to handle ALL of your fears and worries. Let it go!
