Several stories in the Bible are about reunions, Jacob and Esau, Joseph and his brothers, and the Prodigal Son, come to mind.
My grandmother was one of six girls. During my young years, there were four elderly sisters remaining and every summer we held a reunion in Pennsylvania of those four older ladies and their children and grandchildren. Such fun times, visiting, playing with cousins, so much food spread out and we were even allowed sodas at the reunions. (Not allowed sodas at home.)
I have one sibling, an older brother. We have not seen each other in twelve years, since our mother passed away. This was the year! I made a request of my nephew asking him to help me make a reunion possible. All the pieces fell into place. I flew to North Carolina, and for three days, hugged, reminisced, travelled down memory lane, and thoroughly enjoyed a warm-hearted reunion with my brother and his family and grandchildren. So very glad that I did not let another year go by without “connection.” It matters!
How do you think God feels when we disconnect from Him? He never leaves us. He never forsakes His unconditional love, but we do. We disconnect, get busy, get angry, stray and “give up.” A reunion is always possible. No plane tickets to purchase. No luggage to pack and haul through security. It’s as easy as opening your heart to Him. Pray. Seek. Ask for forgiveness. He’s there with outstretched arms, waiting for the reunion.
