I was walking the other day and encountered a friend, walking just ahead of me. She was walking quite slowly wearing a back brace. I caught up to her and we chatted about her recent surgery and her obvious progress.
Interestingly, her doctor told her to not look down, but to look ahead, keeping her head up and shoulders back. She said, walking each day was building her confidence but that it was difficult not to look down. She was quite concerned about a rock or something on the walkway that might cause her to stumble.
Jesus asks us to look up to Him. To lean on Him each day as we begin our journey. He knows the path He has set before us for the day and the twists and turns our journey may take on this day. He loves us unconditionally, but how much do we trust Him to clear the path or lift us over hurdles, or give us the strength to power through anything that may block our way?
Just as my friend was slowly building her confidence to walk without pain by looking straight ahead, we need to lift our heads. Each morning thank Jesus for your day. Ask Him to lead you throughout the day, so that you may hold your head up high. Your day may not necessarily be conflict free or without twists to take, or turns to make, but with your heart and eyes on Jesus, you can trust He will never leave you. What a confidence booster to know He never leaves us, but awaits our trust and thanks to be an omnipotent leader of THE WAY.
