No, this is not what you get from eating all the chocolate rabbits or in our case all the peanut butter cups. This is the result of an adrenaline-packed Holy Week, concluding with an awesome Easter Sunday –beginning with the solemn Sunrise Service, if you are up for it.
What an experience! For decades, I have had the privilege to partake in these Easter experiences. They leave me, not drained, but filled with joy and exaltation. He is Risen! Alleluia! He is Risen, indeed!
The feeling continues into the next weeks as we continue to celebrate the Resurrection of Christ. We give thanks for the gift of salvation obtained by Jesus’ sacrifice on Good Friday. We watch as the Apostles learn what Jesus’ message was really all about. And we experience the gift of the Holy Spirit. The process of re-enacting the final significant actions taken by Christ serve to strengthen our faith and enliven our Christian actions.
During Bishop Pedro Suarez’ Easter message, he talked about how we are often afraid, afraid of the future, the direction of the world, so many things to fear and worry about. However, he noted that Jesus is always in our future, acting as “our road guide.” He is always out in front of us.
Our job is to note where Jesus is at work and to meet Him there to participate in that work. This is our challenge, to meet Jesus and work side by side with Him as He works to calm our fears and bring us to peace and tranquility.
This is the Easter High-the message of unconditional love that God has for us, proven by the self-less sacrifice of His human life, re-enacted each year to keep our memory green and to reassure you that He is here to light your path and chase away your fears. Alleluia!
Terri
