From childhood, most of us are taught polite manners. Foremost on that list will be the use of the words “Please” and “Thank You”. The Easter Season calls to mind a big thank you that we owe to Jesus Christ. He paid the bill and set us free from the debt of sin.
He also daily graces us. A gift which has no earthly value; however, it can save us from the trials of living. It seems that sometimes it can be difficult to say those words of thanks and appreciation. I came across a short meditation that struck me as instructive and helpful. I would like to share it with you.
From One Minute Devotions’ Grace for Today, October 4:
Giving Thanks
Many Christians have lost the art of giving thanks. They are so overwhelmed by problems that a cloud of depression has descended upon them and they see very little to thank God for.
When a Christian stops giving thanks, he has lost a source of great inspiration and spiritual strength. Thanksgiving is a powerful force in your spiritual life. It can dispel the dark clouds of depression and despair.
To release the power of thanksgiving, start each day with a sincere prayer of appreciation to
God for the gift of life. You will discover that, by doing this, you will establish an atmosphere for the day that will cause you to live in victory.
Such simple advice, isn’t it? Imagine the power it can release. Remember that God loves you unconditionally and always will. It’s just good manners to thank God for the multitude of gifts that He has showered on us. Happy Easter!
Thank you, Lord, for my life.
Terri
