When He Appears

Jesus comes to us, inhabits us, dwells within us. Some have told me, and I have read many accounts of hearing our Lord’s voice, even seeing an angel who appears as Christ. A flash of blinding light, a daydream, walking. It is captivating and thrilling to put ourselves in that locked room with the terrified disciples as Jesus was instantly there, infusing them with the Spirit. Cooking breakfast in a campfire by the lakeshore. Only asking for us to follow. He looks into our eyes. Kindly smiling, he calls out our name. We abandon whatever “life-boat” we have been in to seek whatever else he may call us to.

In our midst he is. A breathtaking presence nearer to us than we are to ourselves. We can not realize, let alone comprehend, to this insane, limitless, powerful presence that is lovingly lavished inside us. Holy, mysterious, all-knowing.

I may not claim any supernatural Christ encounter. I suppose that is true for most of you as well. But you and I have this day, this moment, to let our imaginations soar, for that is where and when He appears. Just there, I went back and capitalized the he. Some time ago I heard that only God the Father got His name or reference capitalized. Who knows whether that’s “correct doctrine”? Who cares? Your yesterdays have brought you to this point. I imagine you reading this. Some of you I know; many I don’t. Our tomorrows unfold from this point onward. If you took the time to keep reading this, I thank you. If you can relate to any of it, to God be the glory. You are precious in His sight, and He loves you unconditionally.
