I have been rereading the story in the Bible about Jesus meeting the Samaritan woman at the well. It was one thing for the towns people to know “her business.” Having had so many husbands was a fact in her life she couldn’t very easily hide. I’m certain she was a “topic” at the well by many of the folks in Samaria. The interesting part of the story is Jesus knew her “personal stuff,” and He was a stranger to her. She was certain He must be some kind of prophet to know everything about her. Jews did not usually associate themselves with Samaritans and also women were of a “lower” class in society. This woman at the well, (in the heat of the day, likely to escape being at the well with other women early in the morning) was asked by Jesus to get Him water. He revealed His identity. From her conversations with the Samaritans back in her town, sharing her witness of Jesus and how He knew her “personal stuff,” caused many to become followers of Jesus. (John 4:1-42)
There is nothing you can hide. Our Lord knows you and all your “personal stuff”. The good news is, though He may not approve of some of your deeds or misdeeds, He loves you unconditionally. Like the woman of Samaria, you can spread this good news. Blemishes, position in society, wrongdoings, nothing is hidden from God and He welcomes you to learn of Him and His grace and mercy. Repent of your sins and share His love. Forgiveness is yours. There are so many who need to know their “personal stuff” does not deem them unworthy of God’s love.
I am loved and so are you!
