This past weekend we enjoyed a family get-together. We were celebrating several birthdays, an anniversary, and a high school graduation. Now what to write on the cake for an event like that? Well, I chose just plain “Happy . . . “ It was either all inclusive or a cop-out, I’m not sure which.
Each Sunday we are welcomed to a gathering of God’s people. Together we celebrate that we are “Blessed.” We’re welcomed to a place, ever so fortunate to gather freely. We’re welcomed to receive the presence of God himself in the sacraments. We’re welcomed to express our faith and sing praises to our God. We’re welcomed to share our sorrows and our joys. We are blessed.
Believers of all ages have been blessed. In Numbers 6:22-27 , the Lord tells Moses that the priests, Aaron, and his sons, should pronounce a specific blessing upon the Israelites. “May the LORD bless you and keep you; may the LORD cause His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; may the LORD lift up His countenance toward you and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26.
This beautiful blessing is sung by the Global Choir from the Elevation Ballantyne Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. Their voices, representing many nations of the world, sing in their native languages.
Enjoy and may the Lord bless YOU with his unconditional love.
