FYI: I’m Not In Charge

Growing up years, parents ruled, my brother and I listened (usually)…we were good kids, faith-based, church attending, youth group involved, and we also knew, God was REALLY in charge.

Fast forward to starting my new married life. Hubby took care of all the “outside” chores, yard, pool, vehicles, etc. and I did inside chores, but alas, I was not in charge.  We had brought God into our marriage and knew He was IN CHARGE, guiding and leading us through our new life together.

My teaching career brought responsibilities, not only for teaching the curriculum, but for maintaining order and creating a learning atmosphere.  Every year, just before the new year began, I would go into my classroom, close the door and turn off all the lights.  I would walk desk to desk and pray as I touched each one.  Asking God to be with me and each of my students throughout our year together. He was IN CHARGE of my room.

Are you feeling IN CHARGE?  Perhaps of a spouse with health issues, or teens who are “feeling their independence?” Maybe you are a leader of a committee or organization.  Well, FYI, YOU are NOT in charge, God is always in CHARGE!  You may have responsibilities, but He is the ALMIGHTY!  Your job is to listen to HIM.  Follow HIM.  He is with you all the way through your life.  Too many times, we grab the reins and insist on being IN CHARGE and there are those times where you swerve, hit a rut, careen into a ditch and falter big-time.  If you loosen your grip and allow God to lead, He will not lead you astray. He will guide you out of the rut, over the bumps, even through treacherous upheavels. He is IN CHARGE. The Good News is that He loves you unconditionally.  Give Him the reins and follow with your heart, mind and soul.

This is so very true and so very hard to do. I struggle with this, but I feel I am getting a little better the older I get and the more life experience I had that proves it it true! Great reminder. Thanks.

Thank you Jill. I really needed this reminder today. Feels like the world is falling apart and I’m definitely not in control.
