Mind-Boggling, Extraordinary Facts

Thanks to Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader for the following:

  •  If you tried to count off a billion seconds, it would take you 31.7 years.
  • One speck of dust contains a quadrillion atoms.
  • There are 31, 557,600 seconds in a year.
  • The word million was invented sometime around the year 1300.

I’m weird; I’m into bizarre, obscure information. Numbers fascinate me, even though I failed 9th grade algebra. (I aced it in college, though – go “figure”). Even the very hairs on our heads are numbered (Matthew 10:30). If it were not so, Jesus would not, could not have uttered it.

Consider how many people have lived. Of those, we could safely assert that many, even most of them, will inherit the kingdom of heaven. Perfect life, perfect love, forever. Plenty of room for all. We will still be recognizable to each other, but in what form? I am imagining that we will be physically perfect – walking, breathing, touching, etc.

We get “boggled” thinking about heaven and concepts of timelessness and boundlessness. Satan, the purveyor of lies, tries to plant seeds of doubt that can cloud our faith in the incomprehensible, all-everything nature of God. Trust and faith may be blind at times, but we are led by and to what we cannot see. It is the mind-boggling, extraordinary that will remain when all that is presently tangible has decayed. Even this earth-home cannot sustain in the long haul. Embrace the current, savor the here and now, while at the same time preparing for the promise and hope which is ours in Christ Jesus. May the vastness of His unconditional love add up to more than numbers in your daily walk.
