This afternoon we fly to Connecticut to visit children and grandchildren that we haven’t seen in a couple years. I’m not fond of airports and planes, not at all. But I am excited and anxious to see these smiling faces. Big welcoming hugs and lots of catching up to do. Watching the cousins pick right up where they left off last time with their games and craziness. Suppers around an “extended” table; that’s my favorite part. It’s all a wonderful reminder that although we may be in Florida, separated from many of those we love, we’re still family.
Many other members of my family are even further away, already risen to be with their Lord. Oh, I do look forward to seeing them again. Once again, the trip itself is not so appealing. Not an airport this time, but a walk through the valley of the shadow of death. For many, it’s not an easy journey. But, oh the reward, the glorious destination.
God has blessed us with loved ones. He blesses us with time to enjoy with them. And in the end, he will take us to his home, where all will be gathered, never to be separated again.
Now that’s a loving God!
Judy
