Dad’s Devotional

My dad was in the Army Air Corps (before Air Force) during WWII.  He was issued a devotional booklet along with all his gear. (He reached the rank of Captain, was a cryptographer, and deployed to Iwo Jima.)  Dad had a very strong faith that served him well throughout his life.  Great example for my brother and me.

My nephew now has his grandpa’s devotional and makes good use of it, reading it and reflecting on it.  Often, he shares a special “find” on social media.  I am delighted he has this resource and also that he knows HIS SOURCE.  Today’s “share” was from Proverbs 24:10 “If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.” Are there any of us not having a day of adversity?  Your tough day might not be today, or it might actually be a rocky journey for more than a day, month, or year.  Life isn’t always sunshine and roses. The devotional goes on to explain how to handle adversity when it comes. Some choices: (A) crumple and faint, or (B) become hard and then bitter, striking back and getting even or (C) search and find new resources so they can meet the situation and you can live victoriously in spite of it. By seeking God, you can find those new resources. You will discover power you were unaware of, to help you hurdle over and through the adversity.

Do you know your Source?  God loves us unconditionally and is always ready to provide strength, support, and guidance to help you traverse the storms that beat you down.  Look up.  Seek Him.  Know that He never leaves you and has ALL the answers for you.
