Today was the perfect definition of what a Northerner would wistfully call “Fall.” The cloudless sky was bright blue, the temperature was in the low 70’s, the breeze was light, and the leaves were changing color. The swamp maples are bright red, surrounded by the brilliant yellows and oranges of birches and oaks. The lake was clear and warm enough to tempt a dip.
When I woke up this morning, I spent some time staring at my ceiling before I got out of bed. I know, a sort of strange form of meditation before I ventured into the beautiful day. The quiet time before rising is a quality opportunity to spend a moment in conversation with God.
This morning my feelings of gratitude were bubbling up and needed to be expressed. I do not do this often enough-tell my Father God how thankful I am for all that He has provided. All that free grace that has found its way into my life.
The perfect day, the ability to get up and get out, to go to the church of my choosing, to write, to eat, to laugh, to do the laundry, to walk or drive to the local markets for food, and the freedom to share my experiences with family and friends. These are just a few of the blessings that I acknowledge today. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Dear Creator God, pour down your blessed grace on all your children. We know that you love us unconditionally. May we enjoy the gifts of your love in every day of our lives. Forever and ever, Amen.
Terri
