Last week I was cleaning out the clutter in my home and in my heart. At the risk of boring my readers, I’m cleaning again. This week I have attacked the files and notebooks on my office desk. It seems I am overwhelmed with paper. Do I really need receipts from plumbers who are no longer in business, or medical report summaries that are ten years old? I think not. This, however, proves to be a bigger job that I thought.
I keep inspired by a couple Bible verses. “For if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church?” 1 Timothy 3:5. And, “But all things should be done decently and in order.” 1 Corinthians 14:40.
Perhaps Ecclesiastes 3:6, “a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away.” Or 1 Corinthians 14:33, “For God is not a God of disorder but of peace.”
Whatever it takes, I want my little corner of this world to be much less cluttered so I can be at peace when I sit down to share God’s messages with you. This is my great privilege and I know my mind is more at ease when I’m not shoveling through accumulated clutter.
Jesus loves you unconditionally, he loves me unconditionally, whether or not our desks are messy. But, I’d like to do my best for him, and a little effort here may just help.

Judy,
You may have lit a fire under me and prompted me to do some “cleaning” too. How do we get so much stuff? I love your verses. Great Blog.
