I had an MRI today. The Magnetic Resonance Imaging device is one of the marvels of modern medicine. I don’t begin to understand how it functions. It makes lots of noise and you have to keep very still for a long time. I asked for a blanket and used the time in quiet meditation and planned my week.
I also thought about this blog. The staff was very considerate of me while undergoing this procedure. They asked several times how I was doing. After it was completed, I told them that I planned to write my weekly blog about the MRI and its comparison to God. I think that they thought I was “just plain nuts.”
Think about it: MRI has the ability to peer into the body’s nooks and crannies revealing medical issues and assisting with complicated diagnoses. It presents a picture of problems beyond the skeleton that are found in the soft tissue and nerves.
Just like God, but really not JUST like God. Because God can see it all-the physical, the emotional and the spiritual. All is revealed to God. One cannot keep secrets from God. It’s not possible.
So why try? Bring all the parts of your life to God who loves you unconditionally-no matter what physical shape you are in; no matter how battered you are emotionally; no matter how defeated you may feel spiritually. He wants to keep you sheltered in His arms. He wants to bring you to wholeness.
He doesn’t need an MRI and He is nowhere near as noisy.
