The Night Before

Mary and Joseph, an engaged couple have each had heavenly messengers deliver unbelievable news to them.  Mary, a young, betrothed virgin is told to go ahead and marry Joseph, BUT she would already be pregnant with the Messiah. Imagine their journey, as they go to be registered in Bethlehem.  Most of you know this “Christmas Story.”

I feel certain on the journey, they are still trying to get to know one another sharing stories about themselves, yet they also share the terrifyingly awesome “God” messages delivered to them. Their relationship is new. Traveling, they are tired, thirsty, curious about one another, nervous AND A BABY IS COMING.  Let’s pile on the stress. A new relationship, an awe-filled angelic message delivered, an engagement/marriage, travel, and A BABY IS COMING. Their faith certainly helped them hold it together on this ancient Christmas Eve.

How does your Christmas Eve compare? Are you tired? Are you stressed? Are you wrapped in the commercialism of this eve? Are you planning meals? Is family coming? Are you traveling? Well, guess what…A BABY IS COMING!  The celebration of our Savior’s Holy birth is just hours away.  He already loves you unconditionally. This precious baby, will be God’s only Son, sent to deliver you. This Holy Eve remember His precious parents and their fear and love entwined as they await His delivery, let us remember HIM. Jesus, our Joy to the World. Prepare the way to welcome Him into your celebration of His birth. O Come, O Come Emmanuel.
