Once teen years grasp you, seems talking with friends (texting, emailing, Instagram, snapchat, twitter etc.) is the biggest part of your day….oh yes, school too. HAHA How much do you tell your BFF (best friend forever)? Every detail? The tiniest minutia of information shared, sometimes isn’t safe, friends get into spats and before you know it, the secrets of your heart are now OUT THERE.
My mother and father lived with me after the death of my first husband. I could tell them how I felt (actually they knew it already, they read me well.). After my father’s passing, my mother lived another 14 years with me. I could tell her almost everything…sometimes, in her later years, I withheld things that might cause her worry, or concern. I was very protective of her well-being. She was so wise, so faith-filled and loved me unconditionally.
Now, that mother is knitting, reading and watching birds in heaven
, who can I really talk to? My husband? My adult children? My best friends of over 50 years (I have 3 of them, I’m so blessed)? I am a good listener and I know I can share with these folks, but can I share my deepest, innermost thoughts? I am so very thankful for Jesus! I can share anything and everything! God tells us He will never leave us or forsake us and in Isaiah 49, He tells us that He has engraved us on the palm of His hand. We are known from the top of our heads (where every hair is counted) to the tips of our toes AND loved unconditionally. Open your heart and mouth and share your heart. Talk to Jesus, it’s safe.
