Tweet, Tweet

No, I am not on Twitter, but I do love to listen to the birds chatting, tweeting, and even fussing at each other.  The mockingbirds are notorious around our neighborhood and take on anyone remotely near one of their nests. I was swimming the other day and a beautiful hawk landed on a canopy post nearby, turning his head searching for prey.  Apparently, he was quite close to a mockingbird nest/territory because the bombardment began in earnest. The mockingbird swooped, squawked, and dove into the hawk relentlessly. Finally giving in, the hawk left the area (however he returned and the battle resumed two more times).

These events in nature always tune me into God.  Isn’t He marvelous? Creating the tiniest of creatures and even the multi-faceted man.  Our Father in heaven is not going to dive bomb reminders at our heads and hearts, but loving us unconditionally, He promises to never leave us. If you open your eyes and hearts to nature all around you, surely you will be mystified, and perhaps inspired by their fortitude and uniqueness.  A parade of busy ants, the preying mantis enjoying the final capture of a grasshopper, the mating show of the local geckos with throats bobbing and tails swishing, birds protecting their territories and carrying tidbits of grass and twigs for home building.  Creation displayed and surrounding us.  If God’s tiniest creatures lead such detailed lives for us to observe, can you fathom God’s magnificence? Psalm 139 reminds us He knows our thoughts before we even speak. He has known me since I was conceived. Observing nature all around me brings me so close to God, I can feel His arms around me. I dial into His Word and remind myself of Jesus’s sacrifice for ME. Hallelujah, I am loved.  I am forgiven. I am blessed. I am part of the wonder of creation.
