There was a cartoon character who was Popeye’s buddy. His name was Wimpy. I guess I would be considered “wimpy,” as I do not like confrontation nor fights. Interestingly, I was reading a devotional with this verse II Corinithians10:4-5 “The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
So here is what I realized: Sometimes alone in the house or while driving the car, I talk to God aloud. It is usually thanking and affirming, praying for family members and the church prayer list and then the world. I never seem to remember ALL that is off-track with our world affairs, but I do ask for God to intercede and straighten the mess we make, if it be His will to do so.
According to this verse, I think, my prayers are weapons with divine power and helping the fights and concerns against Satan and sin. A strong thought that I may not be “wimpy” but by calling on God, I’m suited up for my prayers to battle in the underworld of sin. Try it. Pray in the quietness of being alone. Ask God to help you fight Satan and sin and to keep you strong in the battle. Our Lord loves us unconditionally and is awaiting your prayers.
