In case you were not aware, SPA DAY is not just for women. Women may go on a weekend retreat with friends and have saunas, fabulous healthy brunches, massages, facials, mani/pedis. The list can go on and on. Or they may choose to make it one afternoon of a facial and massage, or “nail” day. Men, if they allow themselves, can have facials (it’s just skin), buff and trim their nails, or perhaps a massage. The point of SPA time is to relax, be in the moment. Listen to the soft music, or zen-like calm that pervades. All your tension may leave your neck and shoulders. You will be given a respite from stress. Would God like you to experience this? The answer is YES. He would like you to know that the attention to yourself is fine, but you can ease your tension and have a respite from stress by “thinking” of Him. Thank Him for pouring a healing balm over you. The more you get “in touch” with Him, the more His unconditional love will be felt within you! Time with our Father can become a daily SPA treatment for you.
There is a “catch” to the calm, peaceful serenity that can be yours. Are you holding anyone in “un-forgiveness?” Jesus commanded us to forgive 70 x 7 times (Matthew 18: 21-22). Each of us has been wronged. Spoken to in troubling terms, perhaps even unjustly judged. Maybe the trauma was much worse, a crime against you or your family. The “what-ifs” for un-forgiveness are plenty. You do not have to condone the misdeed, but you have been commanded to FORGIVE. Jesus’s suffering and death gave us the gift of His forgiveness for our sins and His mercy. We are unworthy, but grace, love and mercy pour out to us from our Savior. Forgive those who have hurt you, feel the balm of the SPA-ness as it fills you, a gift from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
