The Mighty Horse and Chariot

Recently I had the opportunity to see elite one-ton draft horses performing and competing at the Ocala Horse Park.  I couldn’t help but be impressed by their beauty, their size, and their strength. Clydesdales, Belgians, and Percherons, the most powerful horses in the world, were sleek and elegant. In teams of two, four, six or eight, they showed their majestic power, pulling highly polished wagons.  World class drivers controlled the reins, maneuvering their powerful teams.  Their hooves hammered past us as they trotted in unequaled precision.

These mighty and noble horses embodied another wonder of God’s creative powers.  Who but God could conceive of such a majestic animal and place him in our world.  Let’s say I experienced a dose of humility.  In the Old Testament, God sought to humble his servant, Job.  God pointed out his almighty power seen in all the works of creation, the wonders of nature, wonders that no man could do.   In chapter 39:19, “Do you give the horse its might?  Do you clothe its neck with mane?”  Watching the sleek muscular bodies of the Clydesdales in action was a humbling experience.

We are wonderfully made by our Creator, but the mighty and noble horse is just one example of other powerful creations of our God.  This is the same God who blesses us with his unconditional love, let’s approach him thankfully and with humility.
