Don’t Worry, Be Happy

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

In 1988, Bobby McFerrin introduced the world to his song “Don’t Worry, Be Happy. The first verse lyrics are:

Here’s a little song I wrote
You might want to sing it note for note
Don’t worry, be happy
In every life we have some trouble
But when you worry, you make it double
Don’t worry, be happy
Don’t worry, be happy now

“God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, His Spirit deeply and gently within us.” Ephesians 3:20.

My thoughts are that I can sing Bobby’s song, read the scriptures, seek confirmation and hope and trust that God can handle everything, even my fretting and worrying. I can get busy thanking Him and allow His unconditional love and goodness to prevail. No limits on God and His all powerful, all loving, all-knowing Spirit that dwells within me.

I already know that I don’t do “down feelings” very well. I am basically a “glass ½ full” person, so when worry creeps around, I’ll CHOOSE to be happy and trust in my sweet Jesus, through prayer, He will lift my mood and resolve the worries. Be happy!
