At any point in time, somewhere in the world, there is a fire eating up land, possibly homes, people, towns etc. Months ago, Canada was experiencing forest fires and the weather was drawing the smoke and haze into its fronts. The haze lingered over the New York area. News casts showed Manhattan in a dense smoky fog from those fires. Who knew that the winds and fronts in our weather would weeks later, draw that same smoky haze over Florida, a thousand plus miles away?
Have you ever sought Jesus and thoroughly read His teachings? Was your response, instant LOVE and complete understanding or were you feeling as if you were in a smoky haze? Reality is that sometimes reading God’s Word is like trying to clear away the smoky haze and hoping to have a genuine ah-ha moment. If your meditation and scripture reading times are foggy or perhaps non-productive, consider praying BEFORE you delve into Jesus’s teachings and God’s Holy Word. Find a restful, comfortable, non-distracting place. Perhaps fix a cup of tea and pray that your attentive reading will be peaceful and enlightening. God hears your prayer and loves you unconditionally and knows your intention to learn more of Him. Many times, with intentional prayer for wisdom and understanding, the haziness clears and The Holy Spirit gifts you with clarity.
The weather can move winds of smoke and haze all over the world or even volcanic ash can blow for thousands and thousands of miles. Prayer can transcend time and space and allow God to open your heart and mind to His powerful Word. May you be enriched and have many ah-ha moments in your Bible time.
