Come Give Us the Mind of Jesus

What words could be a more appropriate prayer for our Lenten journey, “Come give us the mind of Jesus.”   These words come from a beautiful hymn composed by Marty Haugen, “Eye Has Not Seen, Ear Has Not Heard.”

Lord, so often we ask you for patience, kindness, understanding, peace.  And what are these?  All are the mind of Jesus. God has these gifts ready for those who love him.  The Spirit will fill our hearts with the mind of Jesus.  If only we ask.

Our eyes have not seen, our ears have not heard, the wonders that God has ready to give us.  I share this hymn with you, hoping it will mean as much to you as it does to me.

Oh Lord of unconditional love, we ask, we plead, we beg – give us the mind of Jesus.
