I don’t ever remember a time in my childhood and young adulthood that my dad was not teaching Sunday School or being the Superintendent of Sunday School. He had a such a profound faith and such a wonderful “upbeat” demeanor and “glass ½ full” way about him. Dad played the piano and many years did the “opening” prayers and songs before students went to their respective classrooms. When I was a child, he always taught the teenagers’ Sunday School. He was loved by each one and so many entrusted their teen years’ issues to him.
Just like being a parent and having the responsibility for your child’s upbringing, being a Sunday School teacher is a big responsibility. Sharing God’s Word with others is important and should be supported by your personal faith and integrity. Jesus wants us to talk about Him to others. He wants to hear our praise and thanks. If you, for any reason, feel lacking in the “sharing” part, PRAY. Just as God supported my wonderful dad, He who loves you unconditionally, will support and guide your efforts to share His Good News. Ask Him. He is available to fill your heart with His Word.
Pray. Share. Tell. Encourage. You are so loved, so be His disciple and tell His story. As the hymn says: I love to Tell The Story!
