As I write this blog, it’s a rainy morning. The rain is welcome, but the day is dreary. I’ve resorted to changing bedsheets, one of my least favorite tasks. The weather just makes me feel cooped up.
I’m wondering if my faith life doesn’t also feel cooped up and dreary from time to time. I take my needs to the Lord, but he doesn’t always have an immediate response. And there I am, cooped up with anxious feelings, seemingly unable to get out.
Patience would be a good response. The sun will come out tomorrow. God will provide an answer to my prayer. If only I could smile and lift my spirits while I wait. Do these feelings sound familiar to you?
How appropriate the Psalmist words in Psalm 46:10 – “Be still and know that I am God.” Many pieces of music have been written to illuminate this verse. The lyrics have been sung from the hearts of many choruses and soloists. I’ve chosen one for us to ponder today.
The God who loves us unconditionally has no deserted us. He is our almighty God. Let us be still for a few moments to contemplate his presence.
