Pine Tree Rainbow Promises

I found a picture postcard of a Bristlecone Pine Tree with a rainbow arcing across the sky behind it.  To me this was a good pairing of images because the Bristlecone Pine is one of God’s oldest living things and the rainbow is a reminder of God’s oldest promise to us.  “I have set my rainbow in the clouds and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.”  (Genesis 9:13 NIV)

The tree in this picture could be over 4,000 years old; alive when Jesus was alive!  That’s an amazing thought.  As I studied the picture more, I saw patterns in the rocks and stones and dirt that resembled crosses.  See if you can see them.

The cross is our reminder of God’s greatest promise to us.  The promise of eternal life.  The promise that we are freed from our sin by Jesus’ death on the cross.  We know that sin and death have no power over us anymore.  All of these blessings are given to us by our loving God.  God even sends the Holy Spirit to give us the power to believe and all we have to do is receive these gifts with open hearts.  So many wonderful promises and assurances of eternal life with God.  Enjoy this picture and may it remind you of God’s rainbow and cross promises of unconditional love and eternal life.
