Before this month is over, three of my grandchildren will have celebrated graduations: one from high school, one from college, and the third from grad school. Since they’re brothers and sisters, they’ll celebrate with one BIG party of friends.
I recall my actual graduation ceremony as anti-climactic, after four wonderful years. It was a poignantly sad occasion, knowing that I was leaving my awesome friends. We wouldn’t be enjoying our lives together anymore, in fact there was no guarantee that we would ever see each other again. But it was definitely a commencement; each of us commencing on a new chapter; each beginning a new life.
So, to the graduates in your family and mine, I pray for guidance. They have many decisions ahead of them; we pray that they choose wisely. I share the following prayer with you.
“Heavenly Father,
Surround those who are graduating with your grace. Bless them with hope so that they move into the future with eager and open hearts. Help them to put the knowledge, skills, and insights gained through their education for the good of all mankind. Inspire them to believe in the goodness of life even when faced with challenges and difficulties. As they commence with their lives, may they grow even more grateful and wise. Amen.”*
May the God of unconditional love bless each and every one of them, and may he bless you in every day of your life.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
