“For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
His faithfulness continues through all generations.”
Psalm 100
We place a sentence in each blog reminding us that God loves us unconditionally. This is not a notion that we use to make you feel good, it is a true statement of God’s enduring and everlasting love. Here in Psalm 100, written thousands of years ago, the prophet also writes these sentiments to explain and teach a basic concept.
If we want to truly love and give God the glory that is His due, we must first “Know that the Lord is God” and that He made each one of us and we are His. We need to establish a personal relationship with God to be able to praise Him with love and sincerity. That personal relationship with God allows for spontaneous and meaningful worship at any and all times.
Building a relationship with God does not take a theology course or a cramming session. It takes daily talks/prayer with the God who loves you unconditionally. Each day that relationship grows firmer and stronger, so that it becomes a natural part of your life to say, “Thank you, Lord, for the morning sun/rain/wind”-whatever it is that you are grateful for at the moment.
It becomes easier to surrender to God’s help in all things, not just the terrifying events, but the daily act of living. It becomes easier to accept the things we cannot change and gives us the courage to change the things that we can. (The Serenity Prayer) The possibilities are endless.
Start today! Close your eyes and relax where you are and tell the Lord your plans for the day. Ask for His guidance as you go about the activities of living in this beautiful, yet sometimes frightening world. Then, become willing to accept that guidance and the results that will follow.
Read Psalm 100 and rejoice in the Lord who made heaven and earth.
