Restored

Each of our days, even if one is retired, has a special place in our weeks and in our lives. There are certain things we do on certain days; even rest and leisure have their schedule of rhythm. Monday is Mahjongg, Tuesday is pickleball, Wednesday is golf, etc. These are all restorative activities for our bodies, minds, and souls. For me, and hopefully for you, the most all-encompassing day for all of it is Sunday, the day of worship. God restores our souls and equips us on our way for the challenges on our bodies, minds, and hearts. Bread for the journey. Naps and rest are also never to be underrated! We find that we are restored and replenished with the back and forth of socializing and quiet alone time.

Even in the material restoration of such things as cars, antique furniture, jewelry, etc., these can have a spiritual involvement. Maybe imagine or envision how our awesome God restores us, with His amazing gift of forgiveness. I have to remind myself to never stay put because God will not leave us where we are, static and ineffective. He created us and made room for the original pattern which, whether taken mythically or literally (Genesis 1) serves us well so that we can serve others and all created things.

Our minds and wills are able to overcome any hindrance to our being restored. Incredible strength is seen in those who have none physically (ex. Stephen Hawking, Helen Keller, Christopher Reeve). The story in God’s Word is of restoring, and maybe re-storying! Be open to the Holy Spirit’s leading along your restoration roads. His unconditional love restores your soul, as we believe that the psalmist believes.
