I spent the whole week wondering what to write for this week’s blog. I gave up last night and went to bed. In the middle of the night, a soft thought entered my head. It sounded like a wise person whispering: “You have written hundreds of blogs in which you urge your readers to call on the Lord for anything-anything at all. Why don’t you practice your teaching and ask for help with your blog?”
So, I did. The answer was this simple little message to remind me, and you, that our requests are not unimportant to our loving Father. It does not matter what size the issue is. God will answer us. Sometimes, the answer comes quickly and makes sense-like my plea for a blog topic.
Sometimes the answer is complicated and not easy to understand until more “is revealed.” Like my friend who called this morning to tell me the very good news about her 56-year son who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last summer. They prayed, put their trust in a loving God and followed the steps that they needed to take with hope in their hearts.
Her son consoled her with the observation that he could not lose in this battle. If he was relieved of the cancer, he would be happy. If he wasn’t, he would die but he wouldn’t lose because he knew that he would have eternal life and walk beside the God who loves him and us unconditionally. What faith!
Yesterday, he received the most positive report about his condition after completing all the treatment and the surgery. Of course, there is further waiting with this medical situation, but their unrelenting trust in the Lord makes the waiting bearable. Praise God!
Today’s message: turn over your worries, cares and, yes, your happy times to the God who loves you so much that nothing is left to chance. Put your trust in the Lord. There is an answer. Thanks be to God!
