And you call yourself a Christian?

We try every day to follow Christ’s teachings. We listen for the urging of God’s voice within us. But, it’s not so easy. We are born with a sinful nature; we struggle against temptations large and small. Then Bam! We’ve made a mistake that hurts a family member or friend. We compound the problem when our pride keeps us from going to them – “I was wrong, I’m sorry, please forgive me.”

At times like these, the one we have hurt is upset and angry with us. Their response may be, “And you call yourself a Christian?”

That’s tough to hear. But, we’re reminded to swallow our pride and look to Christ’s teachings and example. Leave the judgement of others to God. Our task is to be accepting, to manage our anger, to be more patient, kind, forgiving and generous with our time and talents, to be thankful to others and to our Lord for making us His new creations.

When I get up in the morning, I thank God for the blessing of a new day. I let His unconditional love and patience with my imperfections be reflected in my actions with my spouse, family, friends, and everyone I meet that day. When I react impulsively to something I don’t like, I am reminded to pray before I speak.

Remember you are a follower of Christ; you call yourself a Christian. He loves you; yes He loves you unconditionally.

Amen and Maranatha, brothers and sisters.
Joey

Romans 12:2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
