Today is Veterans Day. Today our country honors our military veterans, those who served in the United States Armed Forces. Our debt of gratitude to them is heartfelt and profound.
As a parent, I cannot imagine the mixed emotions of having a child serving in our military. Of course, there is immense pride. But then there must be countless hours of worry, fear that knows no bounds, anger that we still experience the horrors of combat, frustration that our loved one may be in harm’s way . . .
What an incredible way to share your child for the greater good . . .
And then I realize that our Heavenly Parent must have owned the same feelings . . .
He sent his only Son, to die for us. To fight the battles of our sins. To experience the horrors of a death on the cross. To sacrifice his life for the forgiveness of our sins.
Oh, the depth of God’s love for us.
What an incredible way God shared his child for our greater good . . .
He certainly loves us unconditionally, yes He loves YOU unconditionally too.

“Onward, Christian soldiers!
Marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus
Going on before.
Christ the royal master,
Leads against the foe.
Forward into battle
See his banner go.”
