Jesus — there has never been a name like the name of Jesus. Our Lord has been known by many names. But the name that He is best known by is the name given at His birth — “Jesus.”

The angel Gabriel spoke the name to Mary:

“Behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his                   name JESUS” (Luke 1:31).

An angel of the Lord spoke to Joseph in a dream:

“And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save            his people from their sins” (Mt. 1:20-21)

The name was made official when the baby was brought to the temple:

“And when eight days were completed for the circumcision of the Child, His name was          called JESUS, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb.”                  Luke 2:21

God gave His son the name that is above every name, that EVERY knee should bow and EVERY tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord.

Let’s begin this New Year by bowing our knee and proclaiming with our tongue – this Jesus Christ is Lord of all! He is Lord of all creation and He is our Lord. Wonder of wonders, He loves us. Never forget, He loves you unconditionally.
