Going Home

Home . . . the place where we feel most welcome, most at ease.

When we spend time in a hospital, we can’t wait to “go home.”

Even when we return from a wonderful, refreshing vacation, we’re likely to say “there’s no place like home.”

In John 14:1-2 Jesus gives us a glimpse of another home, our heavenly home. “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?”

Amazing! A place filled with God’s unconditional love. A place prepared just for us. A place where we will feel welcome and “at home” eternally.

Bill and Gloria Gaither capture the spirit of that thought in their song, “Going Home.”

          “Going home, I’m going home
There is nothing to hold me here
I’ve caught a glimpse of that Heavenly land
           Praise God, I’m going home”*
