Texting is prevalent and acronyms have abounded making each touch to the screen shorter and faster. One of my favorites is LOL (laugh out loud) and another is BFF (Best Friends Forever).
Jesus had six close friends who are mentioned often and traveled with Him, Peter, John, Matthew, Judas, Mary Magdalene, and Lazarus. There are references to Jesus with the scoffed-at tax collectors. Jesus talking with women of questionable character raised concern from those around Him. What would His friends think of you?
I am me! My favorite psalm, Psalm 139 reminds me,
“O Lord, you have searched me and known me!
You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
you discern my thoughts from afar.
You search out my path and my lying down
and are acquainted with all my ways.
Even before a word is on my tongue,
behold, O Lord, you know it altogether.”
My concern is not what Jesus’ friends would think of me, but does He accept me as I am?
The answer is, I am loved unconditionally and I am thankful. Are there parts of my life where improvement is needed? Yes. Are there sins for which I need to repent? Yes. I am human and I do sin, but I am loved and forgiven by our Savior and Lord, Jesus. Am I His friend? Absolutely!
