The stats for the number of muscles used to smile versus the number of muscles used to frown is a fun fact to know. It has long been believed to smile uses fewer muscles, thus fewer wrinkles in the long run; however according to research, smiling uses more muscles. Add to that thought, do you smile with your eyebrows raised, your eyes squinting; if yes, then even more muscles are used.
Do you lather your face in oil-based lotions to have the wrinkles be gone? Do you have a facial mask you apply to tighten the wrinkled, loose skin areas? Do you go about town under an umbrella with 100 SPF sunscreen protecting your peachy tinted and/or wrinkle-free complexion?
Proverbs reminds us, “…gray hair is a crown of glory.” As we age and see wrinkles, gray hair, our bodies perhaps slowing down, our minds slowing, are we frantic and ready for those “wrinkles” of change to be gone!
God’s word spells out the promise of the ALWAYS unconditional love and constant care He will bestow on His children.
“I will be the same until your old age, and Iwill bear you up when you turn gray. I have made you, and I will carry you; I will bear and rescue you.” Isaiah46:4
Be real! Should you always smile and never frown due to the muscle count? Should you oil and lotion to the extreme? Stop, instead of fretting over your age and wrinkles, bask in the Son! His word is His promise. Rely on Him to bathe you in His love and heal your weary soul with His balm. Allow your wrinkles of concern to be gone!
