Who You Are and Whose You Are

Hmm, let’s see, if asked who I am, my response simply would be, “Jill.” If requiring more depth to the answer, I would reply, “daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, friend, teacher, author and so on.” I’m quite certain, if you were asked the same question your answers would flow easily as you attach descriptive terms to your “WHO.”

However, if the question was posed, “Whose you are?” would you be quick to give your reply.  To whom do you belong? These posed questions are perfect questions to respond with, “I am…”

I am His.

I am a child of God.

Isaiah 43:1 “But now, God’s Message,
the God who made you in the first place, Jacob,
the One who got you started, Israel:
“Don’t be afraid, I’ve redeemed you.
I’ve called your name. You’re mine. When you’re in over your head, I’ll be there with you.
When you’re in rough waters, you will not go down.
When you’re between a rock and a hard place,
it won’t be a dead end—
Because I am God, your personal God,
The Holy of Israel, your Savior.
I paid a huge price for you:
all of Egypt, with rich Cush and Seba thrown in!
That’s how much you mean to me!
That’s how much I love you!I’d sell off the whole world to get you back,
trade the creation just for you.”

God claims us as His own.  We are His, children of the most High God. We belong to Him.  He loves us unconditionally.

I know who I am and more importantly, I know Whose I am
