Hugs

One of Winnie the Pooh’s most famous quotes is, “A hug is always the right size.”  According to Google, “Frequent hugging and hand-holding can help to lower blood pressure, reducing the risk of heart disease, heart attack, or stroke. Hugging boosts self-esteem. Touch is a powerful language that we can use to convey feelings of safety, love, and connection to a greater community.” During the pandemic of 2020, the huggers amongst us have suffered.  I am one of them.  Not being able to hug my dear friends is simply sad.

The wonderful news is knowing I am NEVER really without a hug, a tender loving embrace of comfort.  Jesus is the one who seeks us and invites us into his arms for comfort, assurance, peace and the tenderness of His love. Enfolded in the arms of our Lord wraps my being in a safe zone of comfort.  Isn’t He just the richest blessing in your life?  He is Almighty Power and still offers comforting strength; a dual gift to us.  He stretched out His hand to Peter when Peter wanted to walk on water.  He encouraged the children to come to Him.  For three years His disciples walked with Him and stayed near to Him and His presence as He emitted love and kindness.

If you are missing a friend or loved one’s hug, still your thoughts and visualize our Lord extending His hand to you. Allow Him to invite you into a hug of safety, love and comfort. Deuteronomy 33:27, “The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms…”

Be blessed with comfort from our Savior, know you are welcome into His arms.

Hugs, Jill
