Calendar

I have a large desktop calendar mounted on a wall with easy visibility to see upcoming birthdates, anniversaries, appointments, events and of course, holidays.

Planning and preparation are important to successfully maneuvering through a busy schedule.  As Joseph and Mary prepared for their journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem, I’m certain much forethought went into their plans.  Mary’s pregnancy in itself, posed much planning for her comfort and needs on the upcoming trip. Those women who have carried a child into the eighth and nineth month of pregnancy know the uncomfortableness, and sometimes awkwardness of even sitting, let alone traveling.

Prepare and plan.  Look forward to and anticipate. The calendar of our Advent Season is moving along quickly.  The Church will soon celebrate our Lord’s birth.  There is not just a “season” to remember Jesus, but we know to do this on a daily basis. With the excitement of the countdown, we expect the joy of the season to bring renewal and focus, and gifts. Gifts of joy, kindness, caring, warmth, empathy, and outreach. All gifts, we and our world, need to embrace and share.

May your calendar of eager anticipation to the events ahead remind you to open your heart to remembering the celebration of the newborn babe who made His humble entry into our lives.
