The Spongy Moth Caterpillar, formerly known by a disparaging ethnic name, has returned for a repeat engagement in the woods of the Green Mountain State. It is truly awesome, scary but awesome.
When I refer to awesome power, I’m not referring to the Almighty, although His power is awesome. I’m referring to the awesome power that He has endowed to this tiny little insect. The power to clear large oaks, maples and birches of all their foliage in the middle of the summer. It is awesome and amazing.
How do they do this? The action requires teamwork. They all work together to accomplish the common goal of transforming themselves into a different form-the Spongy Moth.
God has blessed us, His human creations, with awesome power. We can think, reason and use our thumbs. Can we work together to transform into a different form? Imagine, for a moment, what we could accomplish as a team of human beings working for the united goal of world peace, an end to hunger and want or the acceptance of all God’s children in any form, shape or color?
Of necessity, we would need to become new transformed people, placing God and unconditional love at the center of our lives. God gave us the awesome power to do just that.
I pray for the unity and change of heart that it takes to bring about these goals. I firmly believe that this is our purpose as God’s beloved children. Why? Because He loves us unconditionally and that can only mean that He wants us to follow His example and come to a place of acceptance, compassion and love to enjoy eternity with Him. Read 1 Thessalonians 5:11.
