I’d like to share with you today a poem by Edwina Gateley. Born in Lancaster, England, her experience includes nine months in prayer and solitude at a hermitage in 1982, a year (1983) on the streets of Chicago walking with the homeless and women involved in prostitution. Those were the seeds that led to her founding a house of hospitality and nurturing for women involved in prostitution. Currently she is writing, leading retreats for abused and marginalized women, and sharing her faith journey internationally. I hope you find peace in this poem. Judy
Let Your God Love You
Be silent.
Be still.
Alone.
Empty
Before your God.
Say nothing.
Ask nothing.
Be silent.
Be still.
Let your God look upon you.
That is all.
God knows.
God understands.
God loves you
With enormous love,
And only wants
To look upon you
With that love.
Quiet.
Still.
Be.
Let your God —
Love you.
