Let’s keep Christmas in the air, at least for a few more days until the Feast of the Epiphany. One of my favorites is the beautiful song by Mark Lowry written in 1984. It is said that he started thinking of the questions he would have for Mary if he were to sit down and have coffee with her. From that humble beginning came the magnificent song set to music in 1991 by Buddy Green.
We listen and we contemplate the relationship between Mary and her son Jesus. And if we’re honest, we also contemplate our relationship with Jesus. We’ve just been focusing on the child in the manger, it’s a wonderful story, our hearts fill with love as once again we concentrate on the birth of our Savior. Yet, we’re drawn to look ahead. That adorable baby boy will go on to do great things. That adorable baby boy will go on to face the cross for us. Oh I know, we don’t really want to think about that quite yet; Lent and Easter come later. For now, we enjoy the beauty of the manger.
The song I’ve attached for you here is performed by children. Oh Mary, Did You Know?
