How often we forget before we eat…how often we forget when we awaken, and when we retire for the evening…how often we forget before a church meeting…
Praying ought to be number one. Nothing is better, more soul-nourishing, than to be still and know that God is Lord of all creation, of our lives.
I’m giving meditation a try. Oh sure; I’ve done it off and on over the course of my life, but never with any intention. It takes time and practice to be able to enter into holy, sacred, uninterrupted space with God.
I love the way the family of Joy prays. We do so knowing that we are heard and answered. The fruits of our prayers are sometimes not noticed or felt; certainly not in the “timely manner” our 21st century rhythms want. Trusting the promises, we pray without ceasing. Even if it seems it’s not amounting to a hill of beans. Satan relishes in getting us to believe in that lie. Remember the widow in Luke 18, persistently dogging the judge until he could ignore her no longer?
Prayer isn’t the last resort, it’s the first line of attack and defense. May you draw closer to our precious Savior, listening to His voice, and dwelling in His love, as you practice the first, best, and perfect communion with Him.
Read Luke 18:1-8, and always remember: God loves you unconditionally.
