The Pickle Hunt

Ration cards were used during WWII, to ration food items and gas, so the war effort could be funded and needed supplies made available for the military.  The common folk struggled to feed their families and homemakers became creative at preparing meals with “missing” ingredients. The hunt was on for food.

During 2020 a health crisis occurs/occurred, a world pandemic of the coronavirus. Besides major life and death health concerns, a panic ensued for cleaning products, personal items, and food.  When toilet tissue was missing from the shelves for months, I queried that this was NOT a “diarrhea epidemic” why the rush to hoard potty paper? That was the first item to disappear from the shelves… Cleaning and cleansing products were next and then some food items became scarce or limited to two.  My favorite refrigerated pickles have been off the store shelf for 4 months now.  The hunt is on. At each grocery chain, I search first for those pickles. I must laugh at myself, as life will not end if I am pickle-less, but I do find myself putting effort into this search.

Isn’t it GREAT news that we do not have to search for Jesus? Disinfecting wipes, yes.  Bleach, yes.  Spray disinfectant, yes, but not our soul’s salvation!  Jesus is so close, as close as our very breath. You do not have to run church to church or website to website (like I run store to store for pickles), but instead search your own heart, He is there.  If you know Him and are neglecting your relationship with Jesus, renew it!  Reinvest your time and prayers and feel His unconditional love for you. Your hunt for salvation, love, protection, peace, comfort is over with Jesus, Emmanuel, Savior, Lord of all.
