During the Roaring 1920s, a slang expression, “the bee’s knees,” was used to mean something of high quality or upstanding. Gee, it doesn’t seem so easy to figure out the meaning of such a strange phrase. Do bees even have knees and how could this possibly mean something upstanding? Fast forward to 2020 and you might hear the slang phrase “u da’ bomb.” According to Wiktionary, this phrase means “the best, the ultimate cool thing.” If I did not speak English, I would find learning this language to be quite difficult. Syntax, morphology, phonetics, homophones, slang and more. U da’ bomb doesn’t seem that easy to extract its meaning either.
There are thousands of translations of the Bible, in multiple languages and many names given for Jesus; however, they are clear, easy to understand, and simple. Christ, Lord, Master, The Word, King of the Jews, Emmanuel, Savior, Rabbi, Son of God, Son of Man, Son of David, Lamb of God, Light of the World. Clear, concise, easy to understand, a name above all names. How blessed are we, 2000 + years after His birth to be able to easily find Him, know Him, learn from Him, follow Him and share Him! No slang to unravel. No, current expression to decipher. Jesus, Light of the World, simple.
Your spouse or significant other may be “the bee’s knees or da’ bomb,” but your Master is clearly and simply your Savior. Spend time in His word. Learn of Him and boldly share His love with others. God loves you unconditionally, no need to be da’ bomb or even have cute knees, He loves you just the way you are, made in His image.
