Do I sometimes sound like a broken record? There are so many days when I venture out into the world and look with wonder at the gifts that I have been given. I just cannot help myself. I must shout out my thanks and gratitude to our loving Creator.
At this time of the year, when all the trees are pushing our new green leaves, the crepe myrtles are blushing pink in the springtime breeze, and yeah, the lovebugs are back, each day presents something new and interesting for me. The other day as I was driving home, I was struck by the blueness of the sky and the artistic arrangement of the clouds. Yes, I knew that the clouds were predicting thunderstorms and rain later in the day, but I was amazed by the beauty and brilliance of design. My heart swelled with gratitude for all that I/we have been given in this world. What will it be like in the next?
So often, I feel that I am a “Pollyanna” about problems or concerns. I readily turn them over to Jesus and ask for help and direction. I have learned that a constant contact with God-God who loves me unconditionally, will keep me focused and ready to accept whatever lies ahead.
That constant contact is part of the reason that I feel the need to sing out my thanks to God for all that I have.
We sang a very moving hymn on Sunday entitled “Total Praise” by Richard Smallwood. The Bell Choir provided accompaniment to our voices, and the effect was moving and memorable. I could not find a recorded version of this piece with bells; however, Richard Smallwood provides his own unique version of the song.
Listen for these words: “You are the source of my strength; you are the strength of my life; I lift my hands in total prayer to you.” Put your hands in Jesus’ hands and walk safely with God.
If you would like to listen to the Joy version of this song, go to YouTube@JoyLutheranOcala, Day of Pentecost-5/24/26. This is the whole service, but you can browse through and find the anthem or watch the whole service-the Holy Spirit was there, indeed!
Give thanks to God who loves you unconditionally and eternally!
